Family Relationship With GOD by Dr. JJMB Chapman
"Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain." Psalm 127:1
In the above scripture, GOD clearly states that a house built on HIM has a solid foundation. When a home is kept by HIM the watchman's work is not in vain.
Every home that is following the foundation of GOD starts with HIS building tools. So what are the building tools of GOD for a home that He builds? A GOD-built home begins with the male. The head of the house is the priest of the home.
Genesis 1:26-27 "And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them."
GOD, first created them, male then female. Now we have the beginning of the GOD-defined family unit. He gave them dominion over all the animals of the earth, to name and to take care of their needs.
Genesis 1:28 "And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth."
GOD blessed them. HE pronounced a blessing over their lives. His command was to be fruitful, multiply, grow the earth with children. Take your rightful authority over all living creatures that move on the planet. The first family was now in place. They were given instructions on what is expected of them. GOD did not stop there; HE established an intimate relationship with them. He was meeting Adam and Eve in the cool of the evening.
Genesis 3:8 "And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day:…" Hearing the voice of GOD was a familiar voice to Adam and Eve. GOD solidified the family relationship and intimacy with HIM; with every cool of the day GOD meeting.
GOD wants to build the foundation of the home. Psalm 127:1,3 Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain. Children are a reward from GOD. 3. Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. When the relationship is built by GOD and HE builds the home's foundation, the marriage, and family unit. It is a relationship that is not intended to be broken.
Children were also given the mandate to honor. Ephesians 6:1-3 "Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise; That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.
As we recognize GOD builds the home's foundation, we can now build upon that groundwork. Home bible study, sharing a spiritual walk, sharing what GOD is teaching you in this season of life. These type of conversations allows the family unit to connect their faith and different seasons of growth. A family relationship with GOD, builds four walls of safety, love, and an environment to welcome HIS Presence. Not just once a week but every day. It gives children a legacy in GOD that can not be priced.
Except the Lord build the house…Amen!
