HE HUMBLED HIMSELF

Philippians 2: 6. Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: 7. But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: 8. And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. KJV
I have read this scripture several times. Today when my social media guru gave me the scripture of the week. It hit me! Hard. Jesus, made of himself “NO REPUTATION”. When I looked up the word, the definition was “emptied himself”. Jesus was not looking for a position or title. As a matter of fact, HE had the highest title to be held....HE WAS GOD. HE IS GOD and will always be GOD. Yet, thought is was robbery to be equal with HIS Father he “emptied Himself. Selah.
All of HIS divine Glory, HIS Majestic Holiness, all HIS titles...gone. Why? To take the “form of a servant”. Selah
Too many people come into the church, the house of GOD (HIS house) looking for a position. They want a title. They want to be held in high reverence. This person, positions themselves in the authority of the pastor. (church splits). They did not come to serve GOD, they intended to be served.
But Jesus took the heart of a servant, HE came to serve with humility. HE took the form of “man”. HE experienced the emotions, pain, hurt, rejection, humiliation, betrayal, and denial that man experiences. HE did not retaliate. HE humbled HIMSELF.
Jesus had one focus, obedience unto HIS FATHER.
“But made himself of no reputation... he humbled himself and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.”
Jesus came to serve. It cost HIM!
If being a child of GOD is not costing you something, ask yourself, am I serving me or GOD?
If your interest is gaining a title or position, you are not emptied yet. Therefore, you are not walking in obedience.
“But made himself of no reputation.”
The celebration of the cross is meaningless if you are not empty.
